I’ll never forget the night my mom and I ventured into the white-sand dunes beneath a dazzling full moon. We walked quietly, our only light coming from the moon and a small lantern. Eventually, we found a patch of desert flowers that glowed softly against the pale dunes. I knelt down, set up my paints, and got to work—my mom held a flashlight at just the right angle to illuminate my canvas without washing out the moonlight. Every so often, we’d pause to gaze at the shimmering sand and the tracks we’d left behind. “Moonlit Footsteps” is my attempt to capture that surreal stillness and the feeling that, for those few hours, the moonlit desert belonged only to us.
